  • wrist rest

    Hi all,

My father finally got the "riding bug" after going riding with my brother and I.
He found a 78? Goldwing that was in fair shape but needed some TLC.
The bike runs and rides pretty nice now.
The problem is..He lost his thumb and outer two fingers on his throttle hand many years ago and has some trouble holding the throttle for long periods.
He modified his throttle grip and that has helped alot. But after talking about it the other day I remembered seeing a post on here quite awhile back about a wrist rest.
I have the plans for the home-made version but I remember seeing a ready-made one.
    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance guys
    Andy

There is nothing that can match the feeling of seeing the look on your fathers face after goin for his first ride in a very long time!!!

    wrist rest

I've seen them in many catalogs and at the local bike shops. I've also heard them called "Throttle rockers". I think the were around $5.

An electronic cruise control can work wonders too!

Here is one way to do it for about 100 bucks.

        http://www.angelfire.com/il/sproulpage/page13.html

I did my Valkyrie, and my friend's wing...and another couple valkyries... and ... well you get the idea.

        Works fantastic!

I paid $10 for it at Deals Gap. I think this is exactly what you are looking for.

            Check out this page http://www.throttlerocker.com/info.html

            and this one http://www.casporttouring.com/thesto...ta-Cruise.html

I have both installed on my 78E and love them. The throttle Rocker (buy these direct from the mfg for around $10 and they pay the freight) for when you use by hand and the vista cruise when on the hwy.

The Vista Cruise I had at first was the second on the page except chrome worked great but the chrome rusted and looked terrible. It was only 20 years old, what's up with that. The one I have on now is shown at the top of the page. It's allot smaller but not sure how easy to use with out a thumb.

Yeah, that Vista throttle lock would be a little tough with out a thumb. I have one but use it rarely.
The wrist rest in the tips section works great. I have had one for several years, I use it like a gas pedal. I worked on the position so it hits the heel of my hand just where I grip the throttle.

Went for a short 100 mile tonight and moved the Throttle Rocker to about the center of the grip and it worked an felt great. I think I may leave it there. I think this is just what he needs.

ebay item 2486728345 always available $13.93 buy it now!!

over here in uk i can get the same from www.mandp.com for $8.00 approx post wouldnt be that much

i was thinking about it but ive got a chrome (metal)cruise control switch on my bike, which was on there when i bought her, it works on a spring ,throttle back, push the lever down, and it locks the throttle, but you can then then move the throttle back and forth with no more effort than normal ,if you need to speed up or slow down,

wondered if any one else have these as ive never seen or heard of them before i got my bike!!!!!!!!!
