  • Ebay "spoof" Emails

Just a note to let everyone know that if your an Ebay user, You may end up getting an Email that looks like it's from Ebay, asking for sensitive info about your Ebay account. ( verificatin of credit card # and/ or pin #'s. I've reported this to Ebay and they verified that this was a " spoof " and to not reply to it. I have not.
This spoof says that there is the possibility of fraudualant use and your Ebay account was compromised. That if you don't respond within 72 hour, your Ebay accont will be assumed fraudulant and closed. DON'T RESPOND TO THE EMAIL. REPORT IT TO EBAY.

Thanks for the warning. We got something from what looked to be like microsoft yesterday noting that we could upgrade to their new service pac 2. Only read in the paper today that they won't release service pac 2 for a couple of weeks. Who do we believe.

What I do when I recieve stuff like this is not click on any links assosiated with/on the Email. Go on the net and go to them direct
Inquire about the Email that you recieved. If it's legit, 9 time outta ten, they'll let you know through a link in their reply.
I recieved something that looked like it came from Microsoft, I went directlly to them and it was a spoof, But they did offer an upgrade for free and proptly sent it to me. I thought that was pretty cool. They also reported the " spoof" to the proper authorities.

I will do that and see what gives. I hate to have to check everything out like this but it is better than having our network and all of the stuff we have on it corrupted. Had that happen once and it wasn't a fun filled day.

Identity assumes we know who we are right?

Yeah, there is a lot of things on my machine that need protection beyond my firewall. I once heard that the only secure machine is one that is unplugged and buried 12 feet under ground.

Yeah, you may be right. There was one called Blaster too. So if the worm and Blaster get together nothing is safe. lol
