I'm glad you're getting it back to the way you want. I am still kinda partial to that blue though....
Looks really nice. Which way is it now... the painted, or the chrome headers?

I have painted my headers. They were in rough shape and I am not sure if I want to go to MAC.

From what I can tell, the front fender is from a 79F. It was chrome but the PO actually did a decent metal prep and prime.
I have to say, I liked the PO's color. Blue looked good on this bike. I like original and and I said three years ago, it only feels right if its original. A lot of work goes into that scheme. Be understanding of the cause.

I did the emblems, as Mr Talbot has outlined. His method is very close to my process except I used urethane clearcoat and he used lacquer clear.
They look great. I will post some close ups of them because they need to be proudly displayed!!
Here is a link to Ken's tutorial. Great pictures and wonderful instructions. I have been in the crashed car industry for 30 years and find this technique similar to mine. Follow accordingly and Ken will treat you right.
