      rule 37

      Hi Iron_Llama,
I don't think you got your "first pillage then burn" thing quite right.
      The rule should read;
      First you rape,
      Next you pillage,
      Then you burn.

        Fred-
It's a running joke on the webcomic linked in my sig- the self-help book "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Pirates" which actually has closer to 50 rules. They include such charming and helpful advice as:
        Rule 13: Do unto others.
Rule 36: When the going gets tough, the tough call for close air support.
Rule 34: If you're leaving scorch-marks, you need a bigger gun
Rule 12: A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head.

And, yes, I misquoted it (Rule 1: Pillage, then burn) and had to do a websearch to find the correct quotes

        cheers,
        -M

          seven habits - - -

          Hi M,
it seems these things take on a life of their own.
I was brought up on "McPherson's Law of Dynamic Negatives", AKA "Finagle's Law", "Sod's Law"or "Murphy's Law", which attempts to quantify the inherent bloodymindedness of inanimate objects.
The latest "Rule Book" I have seen is "The Ferengi Rules of Acquisition." I even sent a copy to a friend last Christmas.
