    Windshield

    Hello

I just bought a XS1100 in June of this year I am really enjoying the bike, but I have one problem I need a new windshield and I can not find one on the net. Does anyone out there Know where I can look. I do not want to take the fairing off. I had to cut the windshield down 4 inches to see. Please Help!!!

I have seen people get them from JC Whitney---but we would need to know the type of fairing (of course a picture would be best) Yamaha rebagded both vetter and pacifico fairings plus there were lots of others available back then.

Depends of the make of fairing you have. Some riders cut their own replacement windshield out of a chunk of lexan. See http://www.xs11.com/tips/misc/misc12.shtml I tried that but the lexan I got was pretty stiff and I couldn't get the contour that I wanted. Coulda heated it up in the oven and bent it around a big bucket or barrel, I guess!
Craig Vetter also supplies parts for the vintage Vetter fairings.

I have a Vetter-made Yamaha fairing on my 78E. I got a new tall windshield from Cycle Empire in Milwaukee, WI for about $50 c/w new mounting screws and clips. That was a couple years ago though. They have a whole whack of NOS Vetter stuff. I also got replacement chrome edging for my fairing and lowers from them. (414) 325-8747 ask for Ralph or e-mail pietru@aol.com. I don't think they have a website. Good luck. Ride smilin'
