  • Digital camera infor needed

My digital camera bought the farm yesterday so am looking for another one. I've swapped in 3 different sets of batteries, 2 of which were new, taken the memory out and put it back and nothing happens.

Anyone have a favourite one? Why? What makes it so good, memory size, battery life, ease of use, etc?

Anyone use one with an IBM micro drive for memory? I have the memory card from mine, would like to be able to use it in the new one.

    Thanks in advance

I sure like my new Fujifilm S7000 I plugged in a 512 MB card and put it in a decent case. After a couple of months, I'm still learning what all it can do.

      bang for buck

i'm real cheap, well broke really. I got a vivitar. Vivicam3705. Sold at target for 88 dollars. But thing is its a 3.3 mega pix. and i've been pricing camras for long time, you can not touch a 3.3 for under 150 on sale, its a plug and play with usb cable and disc for photo editor or whatever they call it.Got it just past x-mas and so far love it.easy to use and 4x dig zoom also.

        aa

i run the battery store and let me say no matter what you decide on mega-pixel or card size, in the long run you will be happier if you make sure the camera runs on aa batteries. i have seen 2 many people crying in their cheerios because the li-ion battery for their camera is high dollar or not available. between ni-mh rechargables and long life lithium aa's you will always be able to run your camera at a more economical price.

          W o W !!!!!

Ken, that's one impressive camera. I'm assuming the price shown is in US$, what did you pay for it on this side of the border?

            cam

Forgot to mention above. Mine uses aaa batts. and you can put in sd type memorie card also. Batt use is decent unless of coarse you use flash all time or digital zoom alot.

I bought my digital camera here and I sved a bunch.
              http://www.compgeeks.com/default.asp

They kept me informed on the progress of deliver all along the way and the camera showed up exactly on time. My G/F bought her's there too. We bought different cameras (her's is much higher end than mine) but we both saved a bunch and are very pleased with the deal.

Tony, which one did you get? Which one did she get?

I notice they have a lot of "refurb" items. I've been burnt in the past buying refurbished stuff... was yours new, or a refurb?

Brian - I believe I paid about CDN$850 from a dealer here in Revelstoke. I bought my first digital from him in '98. I worked on him for about the last year, always going into the shop to see what's new, what was happening with prices, etc. It got to a stage where he finally 'made me an offer I couldn't refuse', and the rest is history.

We both bought referb cameras and neither of us have had a problem. I got a now discontinued Fujifilm A201 and I don't remember which Nikon she got. I bought mine almost 2 years ago and Jeanie got her's about a year ago. Both of these cameras work like new. Most referb items are returned for no good reason and cannot be sold as new. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

SWMBO bought me the cheepest thing she could find, BUT, It works pretty darn good and is pocket size, uses 2 AAA batteries, also can change the memory card. $40.00 Wal-mart. concord 4Xdigital zoom 9.9mm f/3.2 It's a Duo 2000, 2.0 megapixels. El cheepo can take 60 high resolution, or 300 low resolution pictures. I really don't have a clue to what I'm talkin about. I read all of this #$##% off of the camera. The rest SWMBO told me. I just point and click. Download onto the computer then let the machines do the rest. The thing I like about it is it's about the size of a pack of smokes.

I got a Kodak DX4565 at Traget for $299, applied for their card, got 10% off thanks to that, paid off and cancelled the card that same day! Beat the system if you can.
The cam is a 5.0 megapixel, very good quality, SD card of 128 mb loads 85 pix, takes mini movies of SWMBO putting around on my new Honda CT70, easy to use, uses AAs or NiMh, excellent deal if you ask me...

I also bought a Fujifilm S7000 (ordered from www.dbuys.com for $506 and then got a $100 rebate from Fuji). I use it in my business and really like it but it ate the AA batteries that came with it quickly. I bought a battery charger that came with eight AA rechargable batteries at Sam's for $18 and they work really well.

I'm looking for a really small, cheap digital camera now to take with me on rides. The S7000 is too big to put in my pocket and I'm concerned that the vibration could cause problems.

Sounds like a great deal, except I can't find any info on this camera. Search at Kodak brings no results. Is that the correct model #?

Oops, sorry, wrong number. The camera is the Kodak EasyShare DX4530. Check your Sunday flyers, it's usually in it. There is also a 4.0 Mpixel, dont get them mixed up.

For a cheaper and smaller camera to take on rides, the HP 3.1 Mpixel at $129 with 32 MB SD card is a good deal too. SWMBO has that one in her purse at all times. Also in the Sunday flyers...
