In my ambulance days, I responded to a mc accident, typical guy turned infront of our customer.. came up with a broken ankle after a brief stint at flying...

as we were gettin ready to head to the hospital the Investigating officer came up to us and set his helmet in the back of the ambulance..

the back of the crown, was worn thru all the way into the foam (were talkin 1979)..

He just busted out in tears.. when he regained his composure.. he told the events prior to the accident.

He was runnin a bit late for work, decided it was too nice a day for the helmet, its only a 15 mile ride.... he got a block or so away from home, and decided to go back for it.. even if it made him late.. when he pulled into the driveway.. his 4 yr old daughter (blonde hair and alll) ran out to meet him with his helmet.. saying "daddy i thought you were gonna forget your helmet"...

    (now i was crying)..

You may be the best rider/driver in the world but you still share the road with the worst rider/driver in the world.

A quote I read several years ago:

"One thing that all people of have in common, crossing all race, gender, age, height, weight, religon, political belief, et al... Is the belief that we are 'better than average' drivers".
      ----------------------------------
I've been riding for about 30 years and I hear that there are two types of riders... "Those that have crashed and those that are going to"
I must be in for one hellofa wreck. 2,000 close calls and haven't laid it down, yet.

What hats are you all wearing out there anyway? Need a new one- looking for recommendations. My ears have saved my skin just as often as my eyes have [not to mention that good old "sixth sense" we all develop] so I'm looking for something acoustically transparent.

          Helmets

I'm wearing a Nolan. It may not be the best or safest but I wear glasses and with the flip up chin/face piece I can put it on and take off without having to wiggle my glasses in and out of the small opening on a normal full face. It has reasonably good "flow through air vents for the hot days".
