  • "The Breeze" is blowing!

    Well guys,

She's on the road. Steps taken:

    1. New carb boots..not much of a job really, and since we had the carbs off, (following my new Clymer manual step by step) we went ahead and gave 'em a thorough cleaning, found some dirty jets, sticky floats (contributing no doubt to the fuel on the floor debacle) but nothing major, lubed, and re-installed - adusted nothing.

    2. New octopus (reference fuel in airbox and garage floor )

    3. New (old) side covers - actually they are from a 78XS but were made to fit with a little modification and paint - I know, I know you cats with 78's would like to choke me, but hey....I wanted to get ON THE ROAD, and no side covers made her look like a bride with army boots on. I still have to find some special emblems, but that will have to be a winter project.

    4. Pet-cock rebuild - again reference a "gassed-up" air box and eliminate further cursing.

    5. Rebuilt some of the fuse holders, more on that in the XS11 tech section.

She started on the first click. MAN......I thought she ran before, but GOOD GOD, Y'ALL!! I don't know if I should credit the carb cleaning, fuel system repairs, all of the above or what, but she really, I mean really, gets after the program now. But, I'm not telling you guys nothing you didn't already know. I'll keep working on getting the pictures up. I'm quite giddy about the whole thing

    Hey there Materi,

That's great, but guess you may have to change it's name from "The Breeze" to the "Whirlwind"!

As for the pictures, the sites you are trying to use don't allow offsite links to the location of where the pictures are. Several folks have gone to Photodump, and so far, they allow direct linking, what you tired in your last post but using the Imagestation. Get an account with Photodump, upload them there, and then you should be able to link to them with the IMG command.

I have 3 sets of 'Special' side covers, some with logos, some a little beat. Cost is $1500.00. They come with 5 XS motors (one with a chain drive and a big hole in the bottom), two Special partzers (one with papers), 8-10 wheels, 4 banks of carbs (some complete), 5 Special tanks, one practically new (500 miles) set of shocks from PartsnMore), Vetter II or III fairing and mount (excellent condition), 80 Standard seat (excellent condition), and about 500 lb of all kinds of parts - OK, maybe 400 lb.

        Wait, there's More!

Order now and we will throw in a nice running not very shiny 1978 XS11 recently back from a trip to Canada where the alignment of the forks was tested and approved in the parking lot of a nice motel in a nice area of Ontario, with the help of a bunch of nice people drinking nice beer, in front of a nice group of spectators drinking nice beer. Comes with brand new Metzler front tire, TC mod (spin on oil filter), Vetter fairing, bolt on trunk with key (recently removed and sissy bar on now), personally customized seat for taller riders.

        Wait, there's Still More!

If you act later, the 1978 XS11 will have new steering head bearings, S/S brake lines, new Metzler rear tire AND heavy duty Progressive shocks.

So, you need side covers? Bring a truck!

Yeah....I don't know MartyA, 1500 for the side covers seems about right, but I don't know if I would be able to swing the shipping on the rest of that stuff

Seriously though, you have some "special" emblems you may be able to do without?

Don't mean to hijack the thread, I am partly joking about the list. I do have lots of parts, not too excited at this moment about selling them since I really don't have a good inventory yet. Give me some time.
