  • how old is everyone?

I wanted to make a poll but don't know how, maybe don't have the permissions for it.

    A poll like, 20-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71-80.

Anyway, was just curious. Maybe a little story about how you found the XS1100 and what drew you into it.

I'm 34 and got mine 10 years ago. Was something, was on hard times and it's honestly what got me through it. Made a few videos on youtube about the love of riding it even.

Well, I'm in the position to throw my exhaust back on and sync the carbs. That's where I am at. If I trust it, then head out to the CO meetup. I have now this, and will do my best with it. Before I was using a single vacuum gauge and it was killing me. I also made the mistake of making too many changes to the carbs and using ****ty aftermarket carb parts. Could never get it running right. I will though.

36 years old, got an XS11 because at 6'4" all the CB750s my friends had were too small for my long legs.

      63 years old.

I was riding a 73' RD350 when I got married and moved into an apartment. When my mom sold her house, my Father-In-Law let me store my bike in his garage. Seeing the bike sitting there every day, he decided he wanted to "learn" to ride; so he bought this XS11 from someone he worked with.

The XS had been sitting for a while so I did some work on it for him to get it on the road. He was so grateful that he gave me one of his keys and told me I could take it out anytime I wanted.

Anyway, he NEVER rode before, and the XS was just too big of a bike to learn how to ride on. He never got it out of his Driveway and after a year I guess he gave up. So one day when I got home from work, my wife handed me the title and said "Here, Go Register Your Bike!" (yup; she bought it from him for me). Its been mine ever since ..... that happened in 1986!

        Hi thebottle,
simple answer: Many in their 50's most of us are in our 60's some in their 70's and even a few in their 80's

There are a few who have owned their XS11's from new

Not many 24 year olds of today are interested in the labour of love an old bike requires. With hardly any shops left that even know what a carburettor is let alone willing to work on them.

We are glad to have you and the few young ones join in the fun of being XSive.

68, and bought Venturer new spring of 1981, and still have it. It also still has the Vetter sound system housing with an upgraded Alpine 200watt AM/FM/CD player 'pushing' Polk all-weather 200watt speakers. As most here well know, not riding anymore as a result of my herendous T-bone accident June 5yrs. ago while on my 92 Honda ST1100, which was totaled(as was I). Still vertical and walking, which was a merical in itself. (yep, spelling sucks too). Bought it at the time cause no other bike on the road at that time could even touch it acceleration-wise, fully loaded and riding two-up across country!!!

Young pup at 52 in a week. Sold my SG a few years ago, at 6'11" my legs were folded up on it.

I recall he had the forks bent in an accident and kept then that way for some reason related to his height?

Not the forks, the steering head. Reduced the trail by a few inches but has over length fork tubes so it kinda made up the difference.

He has an automotive alternator setup on there too. Plenty of power there but it looks a little bulky.

I think he's just a little shorter than you. Stubby.

I'm 64, and 6'4".When the guy who sold me his RD400 offered to sell me his XS1100 F, I took it. It had 7,000 original miles on it in 2009. I sold it ( like a dang fool), due to stupidity. Then a couple years later, I bought another F with 27,000 miles on it. It's been a real reliable bike, and it's very stock. With this shelter in place, I've done a bit of maintenance on it ( lube cables, lube splines, etc.) As soon as it gets above 40* in N. MI, I'll ride it!

                              having fun!

68 years old! Started riding Honda’s while in high school in the 60’s. Graduated, went into the Army, came home, got married, raised a family and went bikeless for 30 years… got the middle age itch about a dozen years ago and bought my first Yamaha. Been restoring/refurbishing a variety of Yamaha models since then, averaging 2 or 3 bikes a year, focusing on Midnight Specials as much as possible, I’ve found my retirement hobby of wrenching to be as enjoyable as riding…if not more!
