Hello all. Been a few years since I’ve been active here as well as working on the Project Rat Bike. So much has happened. Went back in the Army for several enlistments, went to Afghanistan, moved to the south Dallas Texas area, cheated on my XS with a Yamaha Stryker and an Indian Road Master. Now it’s time to finish the XS. In 2012 I bought this SG. It ran for about 3 seconds and I shut it down. When I tore the engine down I found a lot of bad stuff. Bad crank, bearings, rings. Found that a bearing case for one of the transmission bearings came apart and got chewed up throughout the engine and transmission. While attending MMI, I rebuilt it. Been in a crate ever since. I’m going to get er done soon. We’ll see how it goes. Anyway, If anyone here wants to do some rides, hit me up. We can also wrench on bikes, drink beer, and BS.

That's a great idea there, Czekus, welcome back!
Have you thought about doing touch-up painting on the frame while the engine is out? It's a lot easier to do it that way.-- Scott

Already painted the frame. The frame has been cut and shortened at the seat mount area. The rear fender has been cut. Idea is a rat bobber. Gotta fabricate or adapt a different tank. The stock tank it to big for this project. Found some shorter, somewhat, drag bars. Looks good with them. Nothing really fancy or pretty for this beast. Fast and loud. Gonna put a bank of carbs from a E/F model. Pod air filters. 4 into 2 exhaust, straight pipes. After I put it’s first 100 miles on it, probably gonna sell her. Getting to that age. My hot rod Stryker has only had about 500 miles in the last two years, but the Indian has had about 25,000. Nice cushy ride with all the bells and whistles.S.R.Czekus

Upfront thank you for your service to our country, very very much appreciated.
Good luck sorting the XS. . You could do some riding this summer if we were able to continue the Colorado rally because of the current situation.
The Colorado rally is July 9 through 13 this summer. Check the link is below my signature for info or go to the Southwest rally section and you can read about it and follow the discussion.
You don't have to ride an XS, the Indian would be a good travel companion to get you up here. I have been leading the rally on my ZRX 1200 for many years now.Howard

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462
