If we should happen to run into them on the road, is it ok if 'we blow thier doors off?'

      Brits on tour

I wish em the best of holidays! Too bad they had to rent Harleys. I hope they know that they should not acknowledge any other bikers on the road because they are on "superior" machines It will be interesting to hear what they think of the vast USA. I expect the distances to be surprising, but the wide open freeways really make the miles pretty easy to do. Send us a report on their progress when you get word from them!

About 20 years a Harley rider would be caught dead waving to a rider on a Japanese bike.

Last year I got back into riding after a dozen years of not having a running bike, to find it's all different now. Most Harley riders wave first. I think it's all the yuppies that are getting into riding that have changed it. The tradition of waving was almost a thing of the past in the early 80s and I was more than a little surprised to see it make such a strong come back.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but I still notice a majority will not acknowledge me and in fact seem to make it a point not to notice you going by. I hate to say it, but I have been ignored by Harleys so many times that I rarely wave if I am sure what the bike is. I'm tired of feeling like some 2nd class a**hole by trying to be friendly. Of course they can generally tell I am not on an HD because I wear a helmet.

Maybe it's because we have a helmet law in Oregon? Anyway the chopper riders never wave.

I don't wave to scooter riders but I'll nod. I figure they need to grow up and get a real motorcycle. ;o)
