    Need some help.

I am having a very difficult time logging onto the site. I get the "login failed" page every time I try to sign in.

I have gone the "change your password" route three times. When I put the new password in it, again, goes to "log in failed." If I then go to the home page it turns out I was signed in. Problem is that it won't let me sign in again with the password sent from the site. It also won't let me change the password successfully.

If anyone has any suggestions please email me at doug@themcnairs.net since it is so hard for me to sign in to read your replies.

Thanks very much for your help. I love the site.

    Doug,

So to confirm what's happening: you enter your User Name and Password as normal, then click the Log In box?

If this is the error that you are getting then some of us are successfully using an EZ workaround:

    Database error
The XS11.com Forums database has encountered a problem.

    Please try the following:
Load the page again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser.
Open the xs11.com home page, then try to open another page.
Click the Back button to try another link.
The xs11.com forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists.

    We apologise for any inconvenience.

I'm not sure if that is the Error Message you are getting, but if it is just try this to Log on:

    Enter User Name
    Enter Password
Click on that 'Remember Me' small box to the right of your user name
    Then click Log In box

Next you will get at Database Error popup message that I listed above.
All you need to do is click on that Refresh
when you click on that hypertext refresh then

Presto, you should be logged in

I think quite a few of us are getting on 11.com using that process.
Works like a charm every time. Never had any problems at all getting on using that method.
btw: I've been having to login that way for about six months or so.

Good Luck, hope its that EZ.

    Jeff

I had some trouble, but now I just go directly to the xs11.com page...click on forum and all works as it used to...my name and password automatically populate in the blanks and I'm in.

This thread really should be stickied up at the top of the form along with the moderators home phone numbers so we can get some answers, or let someone with the time have moderator access. It's so sad to see this great website dying on the vine because those in charge don't have the time/inclination to keep it going.

. Jeff. ..et al..The logical and easy solution to
this problem is...Once you have logged on...Don't log out..just close out the page..then when you click on your bookmark for this site..you will get back on easy...I have stated this in the past..several times...
The only time I have a log in issue is because I had logged out...
Simple and this should be made a sticky..problem is this site is broken and even TC isn't here very often anymore...

                MadMax,

That may be true for frequent users, but 3.5 years ago my first child was born and all my motorcycle time flew away. I've been trying to log back in for about 3 months before I found this thread on google. There may be others in my situation.

Ah..point noted...Congratulations on raising a family. Sorry this situation exists at all....There does not seem to be anyone willing to remedy this either...

Do we have any idea what is happening? It looks like there was a fundraiser, then poof, administrators and moderators are gone. Is there no way to appoint someone else as a moderator? Or are there no members with experience?

Apparently not...Even the site owner is MIA

I've sent a pm to TC, but no reply as of yet. TC and ekim were the two people I knew of that could fix the situation. ekim is going through some really bad personal issues, and has had to bow out of any work on the site. I know this as he is local to me and we have talked now and then.
TC I can't speak for as he is on the other coast. I do remember he was dealing with problems for both his wife and his mom. If something went south, I know what I'd be spending time on....
I am a mod, but I have no access to the site as far as software and admin utilities. I do know a little about networking, but NOT about what is needed to SAFELY keep a site up and running.
Use the steps posted by JeffH for now, and once someone who can fix this is back online we will try and get it all going properly once more. Don't forget the site address changed about three years ago, so that could be part of the problem from those who have not logged in for a while.

Thanks for all the information Ray. It's easy to lose sight of the fact that we are all more than a name on a webpage.
