  • GOES Weather (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite)

This is one of the best animated satellite weather pages I've found, it even uses infra-red to show what's going on at night.

It's not looking good for the ride to North Carolina but it's only water, right?

I like that it shows what's already here and what's on the way, none of the news or weather channels show much except brief clips of the US with lots of local stuff. This one is even updated at night and you can see the cities with the clouds.

How does one know which clouds on that loop have precipitation?

Ok, I had to compare it to a conventional radar map of US to understand it better. It also has good view of all the light pollution in urban areas.

                      Desktop.

I don't do well figuring out computer crap, so I'll likely not bother with it.

                      Sounds interesting though.
