The program that came with my new Lenovo laptop, does not ask what you want to download, nor does it look for duplicates. Those are the primary functions I am looking for. If there are some minor editing functions great, but not a deal breaker. I just want simple. Thanks!

I use photoscape on my one year old laptop. I had to buy it for Win10, but 7pro it's free. As I take digital photo's, I use it to bring out the colors, etc. Very easy to learn and use. usually two clicks at most for most things.
As far as going through the photos, that still needs the grey matter above the shoulders....

        Photo program

Thanks for the suggestion. Are you saying it does not look for doubles? I have a bunch of pics on my camera, that I don't necessarily want to remove from it, but I do like to put some of them on the laptop. My photo program is already a mess.

Take a look at IrfanView. It is free and has quite a few editing tools. Don't know about finding duplicates, though.

I use a pay-for program, Photoshop Elements, quite flexible but not free. it is available for PCs and Macs. It has a cataloging feature that will find and identify all photos (several formats) on your PC and put them into albums or you can use the interface to create your own albums and move photos into them. Price, last time I checked, was around $80.00

I use a Mac with ImageCapture to download photos; it gives me the option of removing the originals from the camera or leaving them alone. Same with video footage from my camcorder or phone; there is a check mark that says "Delete Originals after import" and if not checked the originals are not deleted.
