They are nice.I went to look at one at my dealers years ago and parked my 11 out front by the door.It was a saturday and very busy..I think people were more interested in my bike than what was on the floor. They had never seen A REAL bike.
That 13 was a joy to test ride.It was so much better than my 11 in many ways but for one thing..it just wasn't me.
So you will be happy with your new ride, great bikes.Show some pics from the road.'80 XS1100 SG

Its an 08 with 36,000 miles on it. Not a scratch anywhere on it. Looks like it just came off the showroom. A few upgrades already done to it, like the seat and windshield. And the price was good.
Still love the old XS but unfortunately something has to go. The deal with SWMBO was that to get this new bike, something had to go.... actually two somethings. Keeping Vincers XJ and the FJ both for sentimental reasons. My 79 and a parts concours that I have had forever are going away. Hauling them away this weekend. Will be sad to see the 79 go, put alot of hard miles on that old girl.
My reason for looking for something newer is pretty simple. I like taking longer trips, and have always been somewhat paranoid about something breaking down. Keeping in the back of my mind a plan of how to get home if something catastrophic breaks. I have been lucky, the closest i came to that was breaking down 12 miles from home returning from an almost 3000 mile trip. Not that a newer bike can't have problems ... but I have a pretty good chance at being able to get a part from a dealer on an 08 if needed.Harry

Well, there goes "working out the carb kinks" between our two F's. I'll compare the throttle bodies on my Daytona to your's on the FJR some day, lol.1979 XS1100F

I look forward to it Ian. Do we need another trip north or you gonna make one of the other rallys this year? Bring it to XSSE or the Colorado rally.Harry

Have you had any low speed control issues with the automatic clutch? I had read the AE would go into neutral or freewheel at low speed (rpm) so you can't drag the rear brake with a bit of throttle to control it better.Howard

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462
