  • test ride = 2 tickets

I wonder why some cops have no sense of humanity.
I just got my carbs back together again after trying to sort out problems. So, I went for a test ride. I got to the end of the street and watched the cop pull into the center lane a ways down the road. I left the stop light like a sane human and passed by him. There is no way he could have seen my tags in the side mirror as i went by. I saw him turn around and come right after me. there was nodought about what he was doing. So i got in the center turn lane to get gas. He pulled up right behind me. I stopped at the pump and he stopped about 4 feet off my back tire with lights going. He got out and asked me if i knew my regatration was out. I said "yes sir, I just got the bike running again and came to get fresh gas".

Next came the question of license and proof of insurance(oooppps) I said I have license but no insurance yet, I just got it running again. so he wrote me up for no tags, and no insurance. He looked dead at the expired inspection sticker ( may of 2000) but missed/ignored it.

The question of why did he stop in the middle of the road so far away and why come after me came to mind. And the question of, why cant cut a break for a test ride. it really pis*ed on my good day.. i still dont know if the bike will run right on new plugs (instead of old fouled out ones) because thats where i was headed when he pulled me over.........
IF the Judge decides to not dismiss either one when i present him with proof of new insurance and tags... we are talking $ 334.00 plus court costs....
I will have tags and insurance on monday.... but i was trying to get a simple test ride in .

    ok. done ranting now.

    Burned

Sorry to hear your dilemma Shawn. If you are going to "test ride"
without insurance you had better live a long way out in the country. Cops and bureaucrats have no sympathy. Also, think of how many times on each shift the cop hears the same story. Everyone he stops without current insurance is going to tell the same story, (the judge to)

That kind of sucks. I guess I've been lucky so far. When I get a bike going that's been down for awhile I'll take it around the block,( plates, tags ins, doesn't matter to me )to see how she's doing. Can't see the sense in spending money before ya have to. What usually works for me ( They turn their heads and look the other way ) is I wear dirty, greasy coveralls on the maiden voyage. If my hands are cleaned of grease, I'll find some and smear it on my forarms a little and mabee a little on the forhead.

I'd be willing to bet that it was a local. This is how they make money for the municipality/city and compasion doesn't figure in the equation. Just figure you are about to donate to your local government and be thankful it's not a moving vialation or DUI which would also effect your ins rates. I'll stop now before I piss off any law enforcement guys that may be here.

well i found out that the judge will prolly drop the no tags.. but not the no insurance..... seems unlike almost all the other local judges... he will only dismiss no insurance if you actually had insurance but just did not have th card
with you.... will find out wedness day
