Over here we call 'em motorcycles, not sure what they call 'em in Cornwall...
Only parts of that description resemble my 78 Standard - wheel sizes, speedo, and forks. I have a square headlight, no oil cooler, one horn, straight spoke wheels, no mud guards, rectangle tail light. Oh, sorry, I do have carbs.

Is that an XJ? Swirl wheels, round headlight?

    Got a photo?

Welcome. Air forks would make it a special right? Swirl wheels came in 81. Black fenders?? Could it be a Midnight in the UK? But mine has a 16" rear. Marty's right...we need a picture. This is like a game of internet charades.

Can you read the engine serial number? And does it match the serial number on the forks? There is a list of which goes with what and where in the Specifications section over on the left there.

          numbers, also need numbers

On the steering head of the frame there should be some numbers. no mater what make of bike it is. Also look on the top of your transmission, there should be some numbers. an xs should start with something like 2H3******* . Pictures would be very helpfull.

Sounds to me like you may have picked up an RH sport. Has it got a small fairing or are there signs of there having been one. Is the round headlight a very large one at that. Maybe also might it have adjustable bars? What capacity is the fuel tank roughly? Anyway, whatever model you've ended up with, you've scored yourself a classic musclebike, so enjoy!!

              xs1100s 1983

              hi from australia
i think what you fave bought is a 1983 xs1100S 1.1.this could have a 15lt tank or a 24ltr tank which was opt on the euro models.shoul have flat bars and mabe a hedlight fairing.the headlight should be 8 in in dia.only 6 in in usa.small brake and tail light.all black with chrome on the filter box and sw/arm caps.look at the pics on this site and it is the one sting is sitting on in his living room, should be what you have.i think these were sold in europe to 1984.

                11 Sport

Could be...have a look at my (tiny) avtar - picture on the LHS of the posting... and then look in the pictures section of this site under the 1.1 Sport.

Mines a black one (only colour I know of) with the small bikini fairing. Never really remember the frame number - but could check it out if you need it confirming.

                Cheers
