Hey John,
Glad to see that your bike is still running strong...wow, it's hard to believe that it's already been 5 years, seems like yesterday.
The thread was moved because it was just a FUN post, but not an actual request or discussion about technical problems which is what the TECH disc. forum is all about, that's all.
Do you know how many miles you've put on it since the rebuild??? Just wondering with regards to info about the tranny fix, and that it was done with just undercutting of the gears, but no washer swap...same as MY BIKE that was done in 2000 and is also still running strong with no evidence of skipping and I'm not EASY on the tranny with shifting, hi revving, downshifting, engine braking and such!
We...George and I would love to have you join us on the run down the XS East this year. This past year WEATHER/RAIN really put a damper on what would have been an otherwise great adventure since we attempted to run the Blue Ridge Parkway all the way down from western Virginia where it meets with Va58. The BRP is essentially very smooth with lots of SWEEPING type twisties to get you warmed up for the more tight twisties you'll encounter AT XS East. Hopefully this year will be better dryer weather!
We left on a Thursday not too early and rode out west to the BRP, and then just a few miles south, stopped and spent the night. Then Friday was allowed for more time to run the BRP all the way down to Georgia since the speed limit is 45 or so! This year...IF the weather is nice, I'm wanting to take an hour or so and visit GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN which is ON the Way down the BRP. A run up the mountain ends at a station with a swinging bridge across a precipice that's about a mile high...awesome view....I visited it when I was about 13-14 years old some 4 decades ago!
