Original Paint color

Hi Guys. Was there a set original color for the 79 specials? Mine is at the painters and he saw a maroon color under the black the po used. Thanks.

Gonna be difficult to imposible to match the Japenese colors used and their mixing procedures. The best bet is to match original color using a color chart setting beside original color.........BTDT, and sidecovers came out a perfect match using a pre-mixed color match in paint shop suppliers nicely patterened tip, single- stage mixed in their aerosol can. JAT that cant't be beat, as it went on and layed like glass. Even surprised me, as it was never known that I repainted the side-covers after emblem re-moval and re-installation. The base paint I used was Primer For Plastic.

Thanks. I have a new paint picked out. Was just curious. Waiting for spring to arrive to get out and ride and take her to some shows.

I have an original sales brochure for '79 Specials.

They came in:
(a) Black Gold
(b) Carmine Red

That's all.

Just for those referencing, Indigo blue is actually mis-named for the 81H(Venturer). The actual color for those wanting to re-paint/match any of the 'tupperware' is 2000 Toyota Carbon Blue-Black Effect, Code 210.
