More Music Musings
Hey Mack,
Us old folks will have to be careful about hijacking this thread into a MUSIC appreciation thread!
I guess Lorie Morgan is some renowned country singer? Beach Boys are okay, my SWMBO likes them much more than I do, they were more her era....she's a few years older than I!
As for Nancy, I still like Frank's version better, but I think that is what I would call Lounge Lizard Jazz...I'm more into instrumentals.
My earliest pre-teen memories of "Jazz" was watching the Charlie Brown shows, mostly to hear "Schroeder" playing Vince's stuff:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6zypc_LhnM Vince Guaraldi: Linus and Lucy
I got one of his albums, and then remembered hearing his version of Cast Your Fate to the Wind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTA3aOfrDHA
This is a longer/extended version of Samba de Orpheus: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqnY...PJglNVxQoQve7y
This one's called Zelao...a jazz/ bossa nova fusion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XDjeBk-7D0
This is another one I remember hearing on the Radio growing up, it has a melody, but also has some jazz "JAM" type work in the middle, but stays true to the tone and rhythm of the original melody:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHdU5sHigYQ Take Five
I also remember being exposed to some of my early classical music via cartoons...ie. Bugs Bunny and the Barber of Seville, etc., as well as the B&W Tv shows/westerns....The Lone Ranger theme/William Tell Overture, surprisingly both by Rossini! Bug's Strikes again with the Marriage of Figaro-Mozart.
This is a nice Jazzy funky variation of the "2001 a space odyssey" theme:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJK3eUP5Hvg Also Sprach Zarathrusta by Deodata
I remember Mom enjoying her Glen Miller swing stuff:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CI-0E_jses Glen Miller In The Mood
Enjoying some of the older music makes me think that I must have an older soul.
T.C.T. C. Gresham
81SH "Godzilla" . . .1179cc super-rat.
79SF "The Teacher" . . .basket case!
History shows again and again,
How nature points out the folly of men!

I'm
sorry to say I never cared for anything Sinatra did. To me it's just talking with music in the background. But I know it. My mom used to listen to him all the time. i couldn't wait for her to go to work so I could put led Zepplin or Steppin Wolf on.
I have a thumb drive in my cage that I have music on and the linus and lucy song is on that. Always makes me smile.
When I was a kid, saturday mornings were cartoons, then the old westerns. Now with programing on demand you can revisit those old westerns again and see just how lame they were. But as a kid I loved them.
I sit with my grandson now and would rather watch bugs bunny then the new kids shows of today.
Glen Miller is a favourite of mine when I'm in the right mood. (no pun intended) I've always like the full band sound and those guy's were the best musicians of the day.
NOW BACK TO OUR REGULAR PROGRAMING!mack

58, be 59 in April.
18 /19 with 40 yrs experience lol. Still have my old gear, running it in my office now. It's my form of time travel. Had to replace some of my albums over the years, just wore em out.
Sansui 8080 ('76), Dual 1246, '75), AR-4's ('69), actually TopCat's R2R would go nicely with this setup, but the last thing I need is something else to restore.
Former owner, but I have NO PARTS LEFT!

I was 63 on my last birthday. Been riding since '74 when my first road-legal bike was a Honda 90. (!) Had a Harley 45 before that but somehow it never became licensed, was in pretty poor condition when I got it and I sold it a few years later to help pay college costs.
And yes, I remember Sam the Sham and Little Red Riding Hood. With 2 older sisters who liked popular music I lived through the British Invasion including Herman's Hermits and late folk music like The Kingston Trio. There was a lot of good music out of the late '60s and into the '70s. It is always funny to me how many TV ads use this era's music as background, even some new covers of the old stuff.
This is going around the internet:

My '76 Scout II is sitting in my yard awaiting further work. I parked it when I bought the F-150, SWMBO didn't want to keep insurance on it other than comprehensive. I start it about once a month and drive it around the block.
A couple of high school kids came by one day and asked me what the Scout was..... Made me feel old.Jerry Fields

Some years ago I got a deal on tickets to see the Stones at the Oakland Coliseum.
Seeing how those guys looked ”up close and personal”..... made me feel my years.
I mostly like rock but one of my all time favorites
