      Old

Well I'm 60, and feel it physically, but mentally I think I'm about 17.
I've always gravitated to older stuff. The cars from the 30's-1972 were works of art. Music from the fifties-1980, is what fits my ear best. I can't listen to rap or much sugar pop. It all sounds the same to me. I prefer the old country to the new pop country and I just bought the Peter Green(fleetwood mac) anthology. I like it far better than the pop fleetwood mac. But I'm also an elmore james fan so Jeromy Spencer's contribution caught my attention.
My three kids all prefer my music, but my wife like 80's metal and disco.

61 years, 18 in my mind... I still like the old rock and roll, do NOT like RAP (NOT music!) or country. My hearing is going fast, so my old music system does me no good anymore.. Jazz is always a close second for me, as I went to a show at Village Vangaurd for my 56th birthday.

Ain't that the truth. Still remember being so disappointed when the Gammy awards actually recognized this crap. They never did that with the old beatnik poetry stuff which is all it is.

                            Well,

I'm just a tad older than you Greg at 57 and will be 58 in February. I, too, feel only 18 or so in my mind, but my body lets me know the truth!

I'm a classic rock devotee, but also enjoy smooth jazz....something with a melody, not that pure syncopated jazz. Also like classical....but again, it needs to have a decent melody to follow. I had enough Country when I lived 4.5 years in Texas learning the social graces of country dancing, ie. the 2 step, cotton eyed joe, Schottische, put your little foot, etc.!
But I also have enjoyed the DISCO era, Donna Summer, BeeGees; but also some Pop ie. Michael Jackson/Jackson Five; funk like Ohio Players, Chaka Kahn, Prince. And so I also have appreciated a few well done early Rap songs...one of my favorites that you may not consider RAP was Blondie's "Rapture".

I have been able to enjoy some of the newer ages of rock/grunge of the 80's and 90's as well, again has to have a good melody and instrumentation; Pearl Jam, STP, Nirvana, Alice in Chains and similar types.

BUT this 2010+ pablum just bores me to death, whiny girls/boys/bands with the same crap if you can call it melody!

Anyways, hope you all are feeling Younger than you are!
