    Couple questions:
Do you mean the Spam bucket or Trash bucket?
So you get some new emails into Inbox and also some directly to Trash? Any into Spam?
A new email should either go to Inbox or Spam. Then be managed from there. Spam can be Deleted or click Not Spam tab. Items deleted from the Inbox are moved to Trash until you dump the Trash.

Are the problem emails from known people that have previously sent you messages? or from known businesses you use or just random junk ads and marketing.
See if there is any differentiation in source (who's sending things to you).

Have you clicked on that gear looking icon (upper right) to open Settings?
You can set Filters, Security & Banned Addresses from there. Maybe your configured setting are not meeting your needs.

How often are you logging into your Yahoo mail. If you have it set to delete in a week but log on less frequently then maybe that is also an issue.
Just not yet sure the flow of your inbound emails.

They go to trash. Some first time email from people that I want. Some from previous people that I want to go to inbox including when I email myself. Some from previous businesses that I want. I log on to email several times daily.

This would be a place to start:

        https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN6265.ht...VfMQRzZWMDc3I-

Those Yahoo Settings and Filters. It could be Filter. Or the POP3 (as below)
The normal process flow would be email delivered to your Online Yahoo Inbox then when you Delete they go to Trash. So your config is bypassing direct to Trash.

        it says:
To keep a copy of downloaded emails in Yahoo Mail

        In Windows Mail:

        Select Tools | Accounts.
        Select your Yahoo Mail account.
        Click Properties.
        Select the Advanced tab.
Verify that Leave a copy of messages on server is selected.
        Click OK and then Close.

Important: If you choose to delete your emails from the server, those emails will be moved to your Yahoo Mail Trash folder and can be deleted by our systems at anytime.

So your browser is Internet Explorer or FireFox or Chrome? I assume you are working with Yahoo mail OnLine and don't have it linked to something like Outlook that resides on your PC.

Since I took my name out of the filter it seems to be working. I have IE and I use Yahoo Mail Online.

I don't see accounts under tools. Not exactly sure I'm in Windows Mail. I have Windows 8.1 I'm on Yahoo Mail. At the top I have: File Edit View Favorites Tools Help. Am I at the right place??

OK, got it. So you are 100% online right at Yahoo mail. And you are not linked to your PC Outlook. That is where that POP3 comes in. You can ignore that.

So in your online Yahoo mail you should have three icons at the top right. A house looking icon (HOME). A box looking icon (with maybe your initials) which is access to your Account Info you set up. Then that Gear looking icon. When you right click on that gear you will see a drop down list with access to Settings & Help etc.

Sounds like you got it working ok now. Sure is a pain when things quit working the way they used to. Yahoo is pretty good about identifying true SPAM so the junk will just go directly into your online Spam Bucket. Everything else should go to your online Inbox and stay there unless you Delete it -OR- depending on your settings get whacked automatically when it gets 2 weeks old (or however you have that set).

Good Luck, hope this has helped and that new email items go to inbox.
