      Like new!

      It's beautiful!!

I really enjoy seeing these bikes looking like new.

I notice you have the handle bars up relatively high. Sometime they appeared that way in the ads, although I have mine a bit lower..... How low can you go?-> see Marty's (Jetmechmarty).

                Cheers guys!

She has been a lot of work. Rusty tank now sealed, a big operation. carbs full of rust and other stuff ...all restored and cleaned up, all new fuel lines, new steel brake lines, new brake kits all round and pads, new tires, new battery, new air filter, repaired air-box which had been on fire, new intake rubbers (expensive ), new plugs, seals here and there, new speedo KM, new badges and more bits. .... She's better than I am! So far about $1000 but I told SWMBO about $500

She is handling like a pig, all over the place. I am going to replace the rear shocks next and also pull out the forks for a good look. I could not have done any of this without the help of all you guys and this site. I did a lot of fooling around with bikes in my young days but these bikes need things done correctly and it has been invaluable.

I actually have my bars a little lower than in the pic but must try them down more for comfort?

Thanks for all the kind words guys.

                    Hi Paul,
Handle bar placement is a very personal thing.
With the help of a friend. Loosen the bar clamps and move the bars up out of the way. Then sitting on the bike CLOSE your eyes and stick your hands out where YOU want the bars to be. Friend then rotates the bars to match. Hold them there while he (she) tightens the clamp.
Mine look high to most people but feel great to me even at the end of 800 mile days. Mine is a standard with different shaped bars.

                      Paul,
That bike is GEORGEOUS. I wish I could find/build one for the $$ you have.

Seems we all probably provide estimates to SWMBO that are a fraction of the real costs!

That's a great tip, I will try that as they are not really right at the moment. When I get her in a good humour, I'll ask. No rush

It is until you look too close. It has 85,000 miles on it. It's a great runner.

Cheers Kurt, I really was lucky to find it, I just decided to buy a bike again after 30 years and found it on a bargain basement website for sale. I knew when I went to look at it that it would need a bit of work but it was just mostly a case of being left sitting in a shed somewhere. I was amazed when I looked into it that everything was still original. I paid €1750 ($1600) for her which is relatively cheap for a classic like her here in Ireland, normally it would be more like €2500+ ($2300+). I will take some more pics later. I have had a scooter in Turkey for over 10 years where I visit regularly for holidays, another Yamaha! (100cc) - can't get it out of the blood ....
