Lol, Brant. Ur free to tinker on mine come XS-SE. Maybe you can bless mine with a mixture adjustment/carb sync better than what's on it?
Bet your right if it weren't so dern far to travel.

Lean drop method or your wasting your time Ian. Any more than 2.5 out on mixture screws you got a fuel level issue goin on. Goes for the recessed pilot scres in the later carbs also. Ain't no majic involved mty friend. In fact if fuel levels are correct, etc., 2 1/8th to 2 1/4 is all for the later carbs.......that's OUT from lightly seated

Saw that Mack, but gonna let it ride a bit more to see what the knowledgable chimes in with.

(BTW FWIW if you KMOW input voltage(prim.circuit) to coils is identical to batt. voltage, both with key on, then attack fuel levels. Float measurement is just a ball park figure by the book.Actual FUEL levels IS what matters. Later 81 and XJ carbs make it easy to check with a clear or yellow fuel hose by attaching to bottom pointy drain. That fuel level in EACH bowl NEEDS to be 3-4mm and IDENTICAL on all four bowls. This HAS to be done with engine idling. Not running WILL give false readings since the tiny spring in seat collapses a bit to totally seal off flow with bowl pressure. FUEL levels idling NEED to be 3-4mm down from upper carb casting body. Up to 3oooft. elev.should be 3.5mm. Above that in elevation fuel levels NEED to be 4mm down from upper carb casting. When you get that spot-on, THEN set mixtures using the lean-drop mthod, and as a final setting sync the carbs together. Both those settings is done setting the main carb first(#3), followed by the rest dialed same as #3 carb. This WILL make that engine so smooth cruising with no vibes ANYWHERE, not even thru the bars. Will almost have you thinking there's something wrong internal with motor. Not true, just a perfect match with flow and velocity with all four carbs. Meaning no flow of one carb carrying another weaker set one. Above Above 3000ft. elev. being the normalrunning elevation, fuel levels in all four carbs have to be 4mm down from upper carb body, and of course a re-set of both fuel mixtures and re-sync...............how's that for rocket science.........or better yet as a carb guru, whether it be automotive or motorcycle.........Follow that advice and your motor WILL be spot-on ALL rpm cruisin' ranges..

The 85 ft tabletop originated in biblical time. The most famous but yet unproven as to actual size, was the table used during the last supper. The 12 individuals depicted in many paintings and drawing was but a small portion of the attendees. In later years, Julius Caesar and his backstabbing buddy Brutus, were famous for there lavish parties requiring large (often in excess of 85ft) tables. Copious consumption of mead and grog by roman soldiers precipitated the attempt by many to jump these tables with there chariots. It was this attempted display of bravado that coined the phrase “hey, yall watch this”. But primitive suspensions, inadequate horsepower and incorrectly installed pod filters proved this to be dangerous stunt. The chariots were soon regulated to nerfing each other while racing around a arena surrounded by royalty and peasants. And yall thought NASCAR originated in the deep south.
