  • Latest cable barrier hazard...

    When Oklahoma first began installing cable barriers in every center median of our state's highways a few years ago, I thought, "Wow! I only hope I never wind up tangling with one of those "shredder saws" on my bike!"

    But, seems that's not the worst side effect from them.

    In the past two weeks we've had 4 biker fatalities reported in the news. (2 in one accident, within just a few miles of where I live.)

    Seems drunks can't figure out the one-way directional allies these "walls" create, and end up going the wrong direction, and hitting bikers head on.

    The accident I mentioned involved a couple who were riding north bound on hwy. 75, and were struck head on by a car in their lane that was driving southbound.
    They were killed instantly.

    This is the 3rd report of similar situations I've heard now in the past couple of weeks.

    If your state has these things, please be aware of this.
    Just one more thing we bikers have to watch the crazy cagers about.

    Yep...have em here in NC...just 2 weeks ago alittle honda went through the median cables on I 540 and struck and killed a motorcyclist in a head on...used to be interstates were the safest roads...not any more...i loathe interstates
