I tried a piece of scotch tape over the mic, but I still get wind noise. It seems to have taken the edge off the cam chain noise though. I think I'll experiment with some different kinds of tape, and see if I can eliminate (or greatly reduce) the wind noise and the cam chain melody while still retaining the motor's growl. I'm thinkin' self fusing tape, or double sided tape - something a little thicker with maybe better sound deadening qualities.
But before I try different tape I'm going to try it with the rubber camera condom. It covers the mike, as well as the hole for the LED, so maybe that will do the trick. I'm hesitant to do it since it also covers up the heat sinks on top of the camera, but with all the airflow it will get, hopefully it will be ooooo-tay. One way to find out...
