  • To-Do This Weekend

I'll be taking the bike over to a welder on Thursday to have the frame tig-welded. After that, I'll swap-out the turn signal bulbs, along with the tail light bulbs with High-Power LED bulbs, which will finish my LED conversion.

Following that, I received the '78 timing wheel, mechanical advance, and vacuum pod from a fellow forum member. Will throw that on and re-time the bike. Will post a new thread regarding the success of both.

Lol, the frame itself. It literally broke right in-half during the Rally. It may have been a combo of factors involved that caused it. But if you can visualize the right rear section of frame right behind that tab with the hole in it, that goes to the blinker mounts . . .

Did you have a trunk or gear loaded on a rack? Those have like a ten pound weight load limit and I know I exceed this almost every time. Leads to fatigue, especially with bad roads.

No rack. I loaded-up the rear of my seat with 75+ lbs. of stuff. Which, really should not matter, as it's the same as a passenger, right? And, we rode over some rough roads.

The deal breaker was my jacket liner escaping from under my seat pad and wrapping itself around my rotor. I think it whipped around, hit my tail light stalk, and snapped the frame right in-half.

Ha ha ha ha, my trunk weighs about 40-50lbs easily when it's loaded. His must have been cracked or something John.

I was checking on a loose turn signal when I noticed it was broken. The only weight on that spot is the seat. The 2 furthest back rubber bumper thingys on the pan set right behind where it broke. Right where the pillion is. I hope no one here has a girlfriend that weighs 10lbs or less.

Yes Ian, It hit hard, fast, and repeatedly with each revolution of the wheel. Glad to hear that the quick fix got you home OK.
