  • Senior Pass for National Parks...

    Copied from the COG forum...

"The Senior Pass is $10 if you purchase it at a National Monument, Park, etc; $20 if you purchase online. It's good for life. The decal is free and has to be replaced every year. The pass is good for admissions to any national park, monument, etc. It's good for one vehicle where per vehicle admission is charged or up to four people where per person fees are charged. It also MAY provide discounts on some other fees.

    Here's a link: http://store.usgs.gov/pass/senior.html"

    The qualifying age is 62.
For me, that means 9 more years to wait.

This was news to me, so I thought I'd share it with you all here.

But, if you just get behind a group of Germans on Harleys that can't speak English clogging up the entrance gate they will just let you through anyway.

Haha... Yes... provided one of your riding group's guys gets impatient, carves a path through them to the gate, and another friend happens to have a season pass...........

        By the way, Greg...
What took you guys so long getting into Zion?
Tod and I cruised right in!

John got stuck in the sand and I was behind him, trapped. The rolling Nazi roadblock got ahead of us. 15 - 20 MPH till we caught y'all.

Ha ha ha.......I was right on that girls rear tire because she was going so slow.

            Rotflmao!!

They were just starting to take off when we got the clearance and saddled up.
Tod goes; " C'mon, Man! We gotta hurry, or we'll be trapped behind these people for the next 20 miles at 5 mph!" So, off we flew. I looked back, and all I saw fading behind us were Harleys... no Greg or JW.

I think we rode through there between 45-65 mph.... Clear into Springdale.
We waited quite a while on you guys.

            Uhhh.... sorry...?
I sorta felt bad... for a minute or so... since John got us into the park for free and all...
            But, I got over it.

You and Tod were on the road on the other side of the booth, John was off his bike on the side of the road.

              Oh well, we got there.

                Remind me for future reference

To avoid large convergences of Harley riders traveling at low speed.

Yeah, 1 year and 4 months away from getting one of those, can't wait.

Hey... It could be worse...believe me! Let me tell ya how...

Not long ago, I went through the drive-through at Carl's Jr.
At the speaker, she told me the price. I pull up to the window, she looks at me, and says, "wait a minute."
When I got my change back, I noticed it was more...
I looked at the ticket, 10% discount applied! Hmmmnnn...

Later that week, my GF and I go to a movie. When it was our turn to get our tickets, this 30 something year old guy starts to tell me the price, looks up at me, then changes it from $19 to $12! As we walked in, I told her "He must have given me a Senior discount! I wonder what the Senior age at Cinemark is?"
Googled it when we got home... 62! I'm 53....

After that, I started coloring my grey hair. No more discount offers since.

Delimna, dilemna! What's worse? Pay more, or look 10 years older than you are?
I probably should just save the color cost, and draw the discount......

This "getting old thing" sure sux!

                  LOL!

                    Heh

I still can't wait to get that Senior Pass to the Park system on 4/8/2017.

All my hair is still blonde except for a small portion of my sideburns and 'stache. I still get 'carded' when I ask for the discount at some places. Me and the GF go to the movies and pay the 'Senior Discount' price but for some reason it doesn't carry over to drinks and popcorn.

I already qualify...just need to go someplace where there are National Parks... As was noted by Bob and the Midwest contingent...during tourist season the National Parks become National Parking lots...

                        What was funny, Ben...
When we first pulled up and saw the big crowd of Harleys, we didn't realize they were German... on rentals! Tod tried 2 or 3 times asking them if it was ok for our smaller group to go ahead of them.

The "spacey" look in their eyes... muffled chatter between them... Then shrugged shoulders while shaking their heads "no"...

Then, one lady tried to tell Tod something, and we then heard the German and the accent.

                        "Awww, H*ll", Tod said!
That was when he started cutting through the crowd on his Maxim to get to the front and talk to the ranger.
