Thank you for allowing me in! I have just purchased a beautiful looking 1979 Yamaha XS 1100. Complete, running, all stock. After getting it home, found out that I have the infamous 1st and 2nd gear grind ( inoperable). The speedometer and tach both jump around like keeping beat to an unpopular rap song, and the speedo needle is broke. Rolls a little stiff. Sticking brakes? So I am in need of parts, advice, tips, support and lots of money! But I love the bike and so I now have another winter project. Looks like a great web site!

Mornin', Jeff!
Is your 1979 a XS1100F Standard or a XS1100SF Special?
Do you have a manual?
XS11 member Catatonic Bug has electronic copies of manuals and some other really useful information on his website, take a look:-
http://www.ringler.us/family/mybike.html
I have no suggestions for rebuilding or replacing a worn out wallet!
For transmission repair ideas have a look at the "XS11 INFO" button at the top of the Forum page and go to the Tech Tips/Repairs/Transmission section:-
http://www.xs11.com/xs11-info/tech-t...s/transmission
The Tach wobble is under /battery--electrical:-
http://www.xs11.com/xs11-info/tech-t...y---electrical
Sticking brakes, speedometer repair and and so on and so forth are in similar places in the Tech Tips or further down the main Forum page -- have fun reading up on your 'new' bike, whichever one you discover that you own!

Hi, Jeff ... and WELCOME to the XSive family!
Some good info from 3Phase (Scott) above ... there is a wealth of reading/resources at your fingertips.
As far as "parts, advice, tips, support" ... it's a great group here, and any questions you have about your bike can/will be answered ... you can count on that!
And money ... well, unless the bike is a complete basket case, it's usually not terribly expensive to whip it into shape, especially if you do the work yourself ... which we highly recommend!
Good to have you aboard!Marco

Hey Jeff,
Welcome, glad you figured out how to post.
I provided you with LINKS to catatonic Bug's webpage for the manuals with your registration confirmation email.
** Scott, I send every new member the links for the manuals when I inform them of their registration, along with telling them about verifying their year/model #'s with the Vin#/SER# thread in the MISC forum, and advise them to add it to their profile/signature. Just an FYI to help you SAVE your sore fingers from having to type so much!
Good luck with your project Jeff!

Woo hoo! Right on!
Reading the fine manual is a different story.
I put copies of the XS and XJ manuals and the '750 Shaft Drive manual in a couple of Dropbox folders. I'm going through my collection to see if there are more that I can add.
