Last weekend, I took a couple youngsters up to the local elementary school to shoot and likely lose a model rocket. After the first launch, I looked up and saw the 18 year old walkin over with this guy that collects scrap metal. We've given him a good bit of junk over the last few years, so he's not a rare sight, but not really expected in this context either. He tells me he's got an old Suzuki, a 1200 or so from the '70s that he picked up and wanted to know if I wanted it before he scrapped it out as he knew I was into old bikes. I told him I'd go look at it, comes to pass that its a 79 xs1100 special. Frame, engine, and at least the driveshaft housing, but no final drive. Told him I'd take it, may haps I'll punch it out and swap it with the engine I have, might keep it for parts, haven't decided yet, I figure to see how bad it looks on the inside of me his weekend. Worst case, I might get some good internal parts out of it. I thought it very odd that this guy manages to find the same year, make and almost model as what I have, he's never ever seen my bike up close, just knew it was old. Anyway, got new toys to play with. Have a nice day and ride safe
