    and got some pix too.

I absolutely love the sound of this bike. Purrs when you are cruising and growls when you pull the throttle. I haven't revved it up much beyond 4k due to it's not broken in yet, but I can only imagine what it sounds like when you do.

    Here are a few photos.

The paint is the original "Indigo Blue" paint. It does have more of a green tint though. You can really see it on the under side of the seat and the back of the side panels. I don't know why they called it blue when it's really green(?). Maybe the same reason the maroon is "Macho". Either way I love the color, and prefer it to the maroon.

The bike was a barn find with 318 miles on it. Needed some TLC, but it's finally up and running. As good as new.... it is new... well sort of.

It would really look good with the optional seat that I have.

Time capsule is a good word to use.

We found every bolt and screw that we touched was as if they were put on last week. Nothing rusted or stuck. The tires were in amazing shape although hard to the touch, and since standard tires are impossible to find any more I replaced them with the original Bridgestone brand name.

Even on the muffler between the exhaust pipes in the middle is still shiny although it does have a bit of a surface rust on.

As I was taking the pictures I noticed a piece of the original wrapping plastic that was stuck on one mirrors too.

Those are NOT factory mirrors. Yamaha for some reason put round mirrors on the Standard, and square mirrors on the Specials. The mirrors on your bike are aftermarket, but from the era.
Bike IS really nice looking, though! Enjoy it once you have it broken in!

                            Define "factory"

This bike came with these mirrors from Anaheim Motorcycles in 1978. The mirrors do have Yamaha's logo stamped in them in the back.

Yes, but they did NOT ship with the bike from Japan. As someone who put together my 78 from the crate, I know what was on the bike. A LOT of people didn't like the round mirrors with the square look of the bike, so dealers changed mirrors between the models so they would look "right". This bike had a LOT of "options" that dealers put on them, or sold to new owners. Most had the Yamaha logo, and were made to specs for Yamaha.
Either way, it's nit picking, and with such a nice bike, I just don't want to go there! Again, GREAT JOB.
