I'm going to put the Green Dyna 3 Ohm Dual Output Coils on my bike this year. I can buy them from Dennis Kirk for $154 + $40 shipping (USD) does anyone know a cheaper source? I need shipping to Toronto.

on closer inspection those say 'single output' coils, but I need dual output right? the picture is wrong i think.
i found these ones and they will ship to me for $15 so that looks reasonable to me.

They aren't green in the picture so hopefully someone can chime in and confirm those are the coils i should get before I order them.1979 XS1100SF 37000km

That's the ones...I just got them from Amazon also, but a lot cheaper ($115 + free shipping), with new cables(another $18)...but yeah DC1-1 is what you need...just remember to bypass your resistor.Nick

I have my new green coils now, thought I could re use my old wires from the old (dead) black mikesXS coils but they seem to be a different style. Can anyone tell me excatly what wires I need to buy? Would canadian tire have them? I went to Partsource and the lady at the counter said they don't have the wires I need cause its for a bike. I figured bike and auto wires would be pretty similar but I don't know.
On another note, today was my first day riding into work . Bike is running great, can't wait to get the new coils on and see if my MPG improves.1979 XS1100SF 37000km

Grab some 7mm solid copper wires made by Dyna. You could probs find them on eBay for less than $25

And, regarding the fuel mileage, you probably will not see a gain.1979 XS1100F

Hey Kev,
You CAN use your old MikesXS wires, it's just that you need the different type of ends that fit into the Dyna recessed wells..vs. the male screw that's in the old Mikes Coils. I bought some other 4 cylinder car wire set just to get the plug wire ends. Took them off of the car set, and put them onto the MikesXS wires, then just pushed them right into the Dynas.
Here's an image from another forum I found that sorta shows the type of ends you need for the wires. You may be able to find something like that at your local Canadian Tire or similar store??
Here are some brass wire ends for 9mm wire on eBay just for an example, you may be able to find them also at C.T.!? You'll want to strip back ~1/2" of insulation to be able to fold over the solid wire core around the end of the wire and thru the end of the wire end clips for better contact.

You will still need to get some coil side boots for over the wire and onto the coil housing. OR you could just slather a bunch of RTV around the wire and coil after plugging it into the coil.
Ditto, not necessarily better mileage, but much easier starting and better, smoother, stronger running!

getting closer to installing these, I have all my parts now. Should I re gap my plugs after installing the new coils? I thought I read that on here somewhere . . .1979 XS1100SF 37000km

You can "check" the gap on the plugs, but if you're talking about going to a different gap other than spec, I think you're wasting your time. I know many have said that the gap was off upon checking new plugs, but I never check. I just always assume they're correct.1979 XS1100F

Hi Ian,
While new plugs come with some gap it is always a good idea to check them before installing to be sure they are correct o XS specification.

I have a tool
I inherited from my grandfather to check plug gap. It uses a round 'U' wire in graduated sizes, easy, fast and I always check the gap on new plugs.
It takes seconds and if they need tweaking its just a few more seconds and then they go in. I guess I'm just a perfectionist, now if I could stop procrastinating...79 SF & 80 LG MNS

Finally got the new coils installed yesterday, went for a short ride and sure feels like I've got a lot more power, exhaust smells cleaner too. can't wait to put a few tanks of gas though it and see if my mileage improves.1979 XS1100SF 37000km
