  • Organ Recital

My 80 something Step mother in law say's that when she gets together with here senior sisters they allow each other a three minute "Organ Recital."

Some of you who know me well may remember that I had my bladder and prostate removed due to a cancerous tumor that was growing on my bladder. That was four years ago. The operation rendered the old pecker “non-oped.” A couple of months ago I felt a rather disconcerting and painful gurgling sensation in the nether region. Upon examination I found an ugly smelly discharge which has been plaguing me ever since. I have been through MRI’s, CATscan’s, PETscan’s, colonoscopies, and ever procedure you can imagine, trying to find recurring cancer. I finally got kicked upstairs to Stanford and had top flight surgeon say: “This ol’ boy don’t have cancer, he has a hole in his gut. Let’s stitch him up!” Or words to that effect. Finally! I’m not looking forward to the cure, (5 hour operation, at least a week recovery in the hospital and an other week at home,) but so looking forward to being cured.
It’s amazing: only a year ago I was thinking, “Hey I’m not in bad shape for a guy my age!” Is it something about 69? Yes, 69 SUCKS!.
It would be great to get together another West Coast Rally, but I’m sure things are as tight for y’all as they are for me. But damn! Weren’t those Rally’s really great? Out of a long and eventful life, my memories of those rally’s are among my fondest: Lake Tahoe, Virginia City, Yosemite, Morrow Bay, Lake Margarita, Loho’s gracious catering; riders down, but no seriously injured, and no one killed. And of course, the camaraderie of a group of people who, are united in the supposition that the XS11, and close cousins, are the best freaking standard bike ever made. Regardless of what they may think about anything else.
But I’m rambling. Good night Gracie.

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
    I've been riding since 1959.

Play as much as you like

You've got a lot going on these days. Hopefully, 69 is taking all of the negative with it and bringing in good things for your 70's.

      Sending you lots of positives!

Well, that sounds great, but you have to ride drag....

I would be up for another Lake Tahoe rally. last time I was there a couple of us ended up riding the old mining country north of there and it was quite nice. Came back over Donner Pass of cannibalistic fame.

I think we went north to hwy 49 then west until we reconnected with I-80 then back to Lake Tahoe. Nice loop.

            Hi Jerry,
somewhat off topic. A few years ago a group of us went to the Motorcycle show here in Toronto. Jim realizing we were 15 went ahead of the group to book a table. after we were all gathered in the holding area about 10 minute wait until: DONNER Party of 15 came over the speakers.
Jim says come on guys that's us. We had a good laugh at the expense of the hostess who had no idea.
