    No doubt its more fun

being there but for most of us that's half a world away.

Keep shoveling the video's, it never gets boring here mate!

I also note that it looks quite dry, or arid, there with a scattered amount of trees and almost no grass or ground cover to speak of, even around that lake.

      Hi Brian,
Thanks for another nice video. I like that narrow suspension bridge. Well it looked cool in the video probably a bit of pucker factor to ride over

Quite normal for the area at this time of the year. Average altitude in the region is around 1300 feet, but some of the road passes between the ranges can reach 4000 feet, so its cold in the winter, and when the sun bakes all the schist rock it can get hot in the summer, and rainfall is low. Average summer temp is around 30 to 32 degrees C, (85 to 90f), which is hot for us, so not a lot of grass grows without irrigation, and what does grow gets eaten by the rabbits, hence the lack of sheep. Most heavily rabbit infested region in New Zealand. Makes for some good varmint shooting trips

That said, there is a drought situation going on there at the moment. Theres been no significant rainfall for the last couple of months, so what sheep were there, and it's not many, have been shifted down to lower altitudes for more feed.

You have to go to Gore for the real sheep jokes.. Redneck capital of the country, where strange things happen at night.... with sheep..... baaa...
        'nuff said about that..

That bridge, Phil, is much more scary when approached from the other end. The road from that end comes through a small town just up the road, and its deceptive. Leaving the town, Ophir, you get onto a small straight where the unsuspecting tend to open up the throttle a little. First couple of corners at the end of the straight are easy, but then the road narrows rapidly on the last corner, through the rock walls, and presto, you have a bridge that would put the fear of christ in to a muslim. Lots of rubber marks on that road.

Will try to find some more interesting footage for another video, or go riding tomorrow and get some.

I really like that narrow bridge ... based on your description, it definitely would be scary to approach it for the first time!

Another cool video ... Great scenery!
