Motorcyle driver killed in Frisco crash
11:03 AM CDT on Tuesday, May 11, 2004

By JENNIFER EMILY / The Dallas Morning News

A motorcycle driver died Monday night in a five-vehicle crash in Frisco after the driver of one of the vehicles may have fallen asleep, police said Tuesday.

    Five other people were injured.

The name of the driver was not released pending notification of next of kin.

The crash occurred about 9:40 p.m. near FM 423 and Lebanon Road, said Frisco police Sgt. Gina McFarlin. A Dodge Ram pickup was headed south on FM 423 behind two vehicles stopped at a red light. The pickup veered right and sideswiped two cars, a Chevrolet Beretta and a Ford Explorer. Then, the pickup overcorrected and struck two motorcycles.
One motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene; the other was taken by air ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas. The driver is in critical condition.

The 20-year-old driver of the truck and four others were taken by ground ambulance to Trinity Medical Center in Carrollton and Medical Center of Plano.

None of their injuries were believed to be life threatening.

FM 423 and a part of Lebanon Road were shut down for five hours while police investigated.
Police have not determined the cause of the crash but believe the pickup driver may have fallen asleep.

No charges have been filed. Police continue to investigate.

"No charges have been filed"!!! 'Just starting at the tip of the iceberg; how about FAILURE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL and ending up at VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER.
    'Just my two cents worth.
