    Hi, Bruce -

2003 was the first model year for the FJR in the U.S. ... Europe had it earlier.

Our member Mathh has owned a 1st Gen. FJR, and I believe he now owns a 2010 model ...

Perhaps he will chime in ...

What questions do you have about this bike?
    Marco

    Current bikes:
1979 Yamaha XS Eleven Special (SF)
    1979 Honda CBX
    2002 Kawasaki ZRX1200R

Huron52 has 200,000 kilometers on his. I'm not sure what year his is, but I believe it's an earlier version. I have a friend in the XS650 Society who has an early one with 150,000 miles. Neither of them has reported having issues.

I just looked him up, and Tom (Huron52) has 240,000 kilometers on his 2004 FJR.

              Bruce,

Is this the FJR you're considering?

                  Thanks guys 4 the replies

Well since the FJR owner came down as low as he would in price and I would'nt go higher....I bought a 2005 Honda ST1300 instead with 63000kms on it for $5700. plus tax....its simply showroom condition; imaculate!! and a test ride was the klincher for me, smooth and quiet with a lot of torque at the start....just a strong easy-handling bike.....test ride one if you get the chance.

Research shows these bikes have durablity as well, like the FJR...if all goes well it will be at XSEast 2015.

If I ever get a new bike I think the FJR would be it. I just like Yamahas over all quality and styling over a Honda.

                            Prisoner on pics

The weather has been steady rain here and both bikes are covered and stowed in my "Vinyl Chalet" ......but I will post some pics....its a stock machine with only heli bar risers as an XStra.....really if you were to look at a new ST1300 it really is that clean and 63000 kms on it....its a stock wine color.....heres an oddity though, in the last three years my younger and older brothers both took up biking.....the younger Bro bought a wine colored 06 Goldwing! The older Bro bought a 1983 Kawi voyager and its wine as well...and mine is wine as well.....Bunch of wine"os
