My wife said we should take a Sunday Lunch ride to the Berry Barn before Saskatchewan ran out of good riding weather.
While there, after the Saskatoon Berry pie and ice cream, I had occasion to use their washroom.
There was a sign over the urinal which would have made a treehugger's heart beat real fast:-
This completely sanitary waterfree urinal saves 40,000 gallons of water each year
Oddly, there was no corresponding sign over the hand basins saying how much water not washing one's hands afterwards would have saved.

Reminds me of the old Navy joke.(I'm ex-Navy..Medic...trained with Marines)

A Marine and a Squid walk into a bathroom at the same time, both visit the urinal, and then the Squid justs zips up and starts to walk out. The Marine says, "Hey, in the corps they taught us to wash our hands after we go to the bathroom"!

The Squid then retorts.." Yea, well in the Navy they taught us not to piss on our hands!"

I've read that and done a little math on the subject. Most urinals these days only flush maybe a liter per flush, so calling 4 liters a gallon (Yeah, I know it's not perfect) that's 160,000 flushes per year. 438 per day. almost 55 times per hour in an 8 hour day.. or basically once a minute. That thing better be at a crowded bar all by itself to make that claim. The urinals at one of the colleges up in Oklahoma City claim 50,000 gals a year. Oh.. they also have a little painted picture of a bee in the urinal to give those with poor aim some practice..

Are we counting the total number or urinals that are like that?

5,10, or 20 of them can add up collectively.

Each one says that, but even accumulative, not too many places where a urinal would be flushed every minute.

Kinda makes you stop and think when your adding a little water to a urinal how many times that particular water has been in that particular urinal.

                Drink up.
