  • Generator unused for 8 years - want to use it.

    Hi,

I just picked up a Honda EU2000i that has been in the box for the last 8 years, never had gas in it. Before I start it I thought I should maybe squirt some oil in the cylinder & let it sit that way for a bit to let the oil drain past the rings. Maybe that's not necessary?

Any suggestions before I pull the cord?

    Thanks!

    its a single cylinder

a little top end oil wont hurt before starting or some atf

i would make sure it has fresh oil in it

then start it up and put it under a moderate load for a while to let it seat in
