Bummer about your wrist. Good luck on your recovery.

Still hoping for a XS11 meet up somewhere in the Van/Vic area this summer.

Will you be going to Vintage in the Valley?

The bike with the number 7 plate on it is the one with the chain drive setup (and the rest) fitted to it. It ran in the prototype class and did extremely well for its limited career.
The chaindrive setup is the forefather of the Motionlogics unit that appeared on her some time ago - CLICK for Thread

As for the cylinder head, here's a pic of the business side of one that was sold on the Aussie site in 2010

There's a lot more info about them if you search the UK and german XS1100 sites.

All the rest of the bikes in the pics and videos are absolutely bog standard, with no modifications allowed at all except for the removal of glass bits etc for safety reasons.

Here's photos of a pair of them at the Broadford Bike Bonanza in Victoria a few weeks ago -

^ and Jim Scraysbrook aboard this one

Both bikes are in " brand new" condition and also blitzed the "period era" runners on the racetrack at the meet

And, Yes. Through the 70's and 80's, Motorcycle racing had a massive following over here (and we're still living that dream)

When is the vintage in the valley?
We might be away on the boat.
Went to an all British bike and car show yesterday.
Hand is getting better slowly, but two fingers are numb. Did not happen with the other hand.

OK. That's it. I'm moving to OZ.

Thanks for those pics. Amazing to see them still kicking azz.

Interesting to see those heads with all the ridges and polyspherical combustion chamber facets polished off.

Crusty, just put the info in the Northwest Rallies section

            Rally in the valley

Thanks Orange. Put it in my diary, but I think we will still be out on the ocean waves at that time.
Going later this year due to a wedding in WA in late July.

Some french guys are racing a modified XS1100 in a vintage racing series in europe. Looks like they are running dual plugs and without the flywheel. Interesting. Total loss electrical or magneto?

Nope. Alternator over the front sprocket. Is is lighter/more efficient than the original setup or did they wire it to work only when the brakes are applied?

We will likely make it to the rally in Chilliwack 17 August. Will be on the Suzuki.

More pics of the XS1100 win uncovered at Bathurst in 1981. Greg Pretty won the Arai 500 on the Pitman's chain drive XS.

A good look at that swing arm.

                      Chain drive

Super Dave in Langley BC has a chain drive on his 1100, that he rode at Westwood during the 80s. He built his own frame. Engine has flat slide carbs on it.

Orange4, The 1.1 in the picture has WEBBERS on it!! NO problems tuning or breathing with that! Oh, and note that they "dimpled" the tank to fit the carbs.

Bathurst is the holy grail of V8 motorsport in this part of the world, but its had a pretty rich history of other racing in the past.

My wife and I drove a couple of laps around the Mt Panorama track while on holiday a few years back. All the way round I was thinking what a brilliant track this would be on a bike. Apparently it is..

There's a pretty good motor museum at the bottom of the hill, with a good collection of bikes and cars.
