Hey BNE,
In the beginning of XS11.com, back in the SAFE OLD Days of the internet, folks didn't mind putting in personal info like their full birthday with their registration. The site stores that, and uses it in the Calender to post the B'day reminders every day, so even though they are no longer active, IF they put their b'day info in, it will keep posting about them every year.
I've made it a point to REMOVE Email info and B'day info from the members that have passed on, so that they can't receive emails or such from the site(it sends a Happy B'day out via email to the member as well).
It's rare that members are deleted from the system, mostly because if they have posted, then deleting their account can mess up the Search Database and such! I have deleted a few members....but only because they had been inactive for many years, had NOT posted any messages, and a NEW member was trying to register using the same username....case in point is WOLF! Previous user was in Denmark with an XJ650 that probably found us and registered not realizing we were mostly for XS11's...he never posted, and hadn't been on since the day he registered....so I recycled his username!

I'm one of those forgotten memebers, I said goodbye to my XJ1100 back in 2004 in favor of an 83 Goldwing which I had an affair with until I met my true love in 2008. SInce then I've put 60k on my 03 V-strom and have loved every minute. Sometimes I do miss my Dog and sometimes think of trying to find an old XS rat to tinker with in the Garage. There were some mighty nice folks here who were kind enough to help me with more than one mechanical issues. I'll never forget spending the winter of 03 with the XJ's motor upside down on my tool bench fixing the spacer in the tranny. I Like to stop by and say hello to TC every now and again. He was nice enough to sew my knee back on after an unfortunate rally incident in the hills of West Va.
Until Next Time
Cheers Daryl
