Well, at least it is here in the Valley of the Sun!

We had our first official 100 degree day of the year yesterday (102, I believe) ...

So, for us Phoenicians, it's ...............








Out of the frying pan,
And into the FIRE ...

Not to worry, though ...

We get to look forward to relief in ... wait for it ... MID-OCTOBER!!

I lived 15 years in Tucson and i still maintain contact with several friends there...this past winter was record warm..70's and 80's all winter long...but now its the relentless heat of the desert until Oct...where the only places of relief are either deep underground or above 6000 feet...BTDT...FWIW I'd take the dry heat of the desert to the hot and humiid swampy weather here in the South any day...

Been to Colorado many, many times ...

Spent most of those times in Colo. Springs/Golden/Evergreen/Breckenridge ... never been to the extreme western part of the state ...

I've heard great things about Grand Junction - would love to go there someday ...

......only 10hrs. away. Flag. to TubaCity, hang a left to Moab, N. 15mi. to I-70, hang a right......easy-peasy. BTW, very familiar with Phoenix and more so, Tuscon. SaltRiverCanyon a hoot, bike or cage if comin' the 'back' way from Tuscon.

I have relatives in West Palm Beach, FL and have spent some vacation days there in the summertime ...

Couldn't wait to come back to the 100-110 degree dry heat of Phoenix ...

+1 Ben!.........least SWMBO and I are 'caging' it to mother-in-laws 90th birthday end of august........to Columbus, Georgia.

past three trips, aired it there, but with more than doubled in cost(even finding special discounts), looks like it's time for a cage 'road trip'..

Just over 9,000 ft. elevation, and beautiful scenery, hiking, etc.

Hiked Wilderness Of rocks trail from mt lemmon many times...Aspen trail was awesome too
The Rincons are nice too...plus if you head to SE Arizona the Chircahua Mtns are awesome for hiking and camping...I would spend every weekend off up in the mtns...sleeping in the canadian life zone at the top of the mtns and sleeping on a bed of pine needles... my outdoor living room...good memories The oasis in the desert...Tucson could be 110 but Summerhaven would be 82* @ 9000+ ft...

Yeah, Ben, the Chiricahua's are great as well! The Monument trails, in particular ...

And even higher elevation at the peak, pushing nearly 10,000 ft. ... Love it!

Not to mention the southwestern most pocket of Engleman Spruce trees in the USA are in the Chiricahuas...Not to mention going to the top of Mt Graham...;-)

The heat is on!

Well, it was 110* here in Phoenix yesterday ...

So, early this morning, about an hour before dawn, I decided to go for a ride ... returned home at sunrise ...

Temp during ride? 78*

Absolutely perfect weather for the ride ...

Expected high of 109* today ... I may have to do it again tomorrow morning!

We've been pretty fortunate here in the Tulsa area, until the past few days.
Temps are climbing now... Mid 90's. But the humidity and dew points...yikes!

I rode to Stillwater yesterday to visit Cody and do a little electrical job for him.
(Who knew a Concours doubles as an electrical service vehicle, too?)

Great ride down there, in the low 80's.
Came back around 2:00 pm in full riding gear...
I was ready to get in the a/c...

We've been getting a lot of rain, too...but now it's adding to the humidity.

Bump

Well ...

As it is officially the first day of Summer 2014 today, I thought I'd give this thread a bump ...

It looks like we'll be pushing close to 110* here in the desert for the next several days ... the heat is on!

Planning another pre-dawn ride tomorrow around 3:45 AM ... should be really beautiful weather at that time.
