  • Rising Sun transformed

    I had given my 78E aka Rising Sun to my brother in law Tom because he got a motorcycle license and needed a bike to for his 6'4" frame and he is a pretty good guy.

    Here is when I gave it:


    And after he had it painted and added a Plexifairing III:








    He likes green better. Anyway it has a good home. The tank had a hole so it got replaced by the black standard I used on Great Ranger last summer on the 7kWUSCAN trip. I am switching back to the original Special tank on Great Ranger.

    Just thought I'd share cuz I liked how it came out.

    Nice ...

    I like the yellow better, but the more I look at the green, the more it grows on me.

    Either way, looks really sharp!

              Supposedly, a green painted motorcycle is bad luck. The legend has it that the Harleys used in World War II were often sitting duck targets, and many military riders got their butts blasted off them. And since they were painted Army green, it eventually translated into modern folklore.

              This one might actually be true. I know a guy who had a green Road Glide, and dropped it several times, one time injuring his leg. Then he got the bike repainted, with a different shade of green, and wiped out on it again. From what I could recall, when his bike still had the factory black, he never crashed it.
              I was told of this superstition by a friend who sold me his 1969 Triumph T100R. It was green.

              I love the E in that shade. It looks great!

                  I didn't have bad luck with the Triumph either. I turner it over to a friend who made a show winner out of it. He still has it and rides it.

                          Yes it is. It was the bike I used to keep at the office in San Diego.

                          It rode pretty well and pulled like a freight train.

                              So ,now you have to rename the bike, Rising Sun doesn't match the green
