      here we go again

4.22 tonight after getting the front wheel situated i decided to get on the tank. the original owner had filled the emblem holes and re-sprayed the tank black. it was looking pretty bad up top, starting to spider web and at the bottom the seat had rubbed it pretty raw. i peeled my flames off and got a good start with wet 600 grit paper. i've got the top pretty much done except around the fuel filler and some touch up.

next stop the sides and bottom edges.

That looks pretty wild! Just clearcoat it and leave it alone.

                  color

4.26 1 more coat of primer a bit of glazing and 4 coats of gloss black with metallic flake. tomorrow will mask the lower half of the tank where the seat and my jacket buckle rub then shoot it with black truck bed liner to scratch proof it. then on to the clear coat

                      almost home

4.27 laid a final coat of color and 4 coats of clear. in between i masked off the bottom and laid about 3 coats of spray on black truck liner (5.99 for the can) hopefully this will keep my seat from rubbing it back raw and my jacket zipper and vest extenders from scratching. tomorrow i will reinstall the fuel cover and petcocks and get it mounted back on the bike.
