  • Desperately seeking petcock rebuild kit

Took the Mangler out of storage, petcock is leaking badly. I have been shopping around all the parts links:
Parts n More, $20 each, out of stock
motorcyclecarbs. com $34.95 plus S/H each
    Yamatopdog $39.95 plus shipping each

    discountyamahaparts.com dead link
    Repps dead link for XS1100

Some of the other links are for OEM or NOS, no 'rebuild kits' listed.

Anybody got any other places to try? Gotta order quick, having withdrawal symptoms....

Marty, try this guy. I don't know if he has a web addy, but this is his business e mail. He buys up inventory from dealers that go out of business. I recently bought a complete engine gasket kit and a cam chain from him. Prompt service. He is in Erie, Pa. Benelli6@aol.com. The company name is L. Lloyd Ltd. His name is Steve.

      Marty,

Also try Speedandsportinc.com. They're in Bloomsburg, PA and have a HUMOUNGUS NOS inventory.

sometimes you can do a good cleaning
and put them back togeather with the old parts

i found that the biggest problem is they dont shut off
pull the plate off from the back ( where the vac line connects )
clean that little brass piece, don't hurt the O-ring
then use a piece of fine steel wool
and clean the hole where the o-rings seats
if you don't hurt the gaskets taking it apart
            it may work

take your time, and be careful disassembling

i did 2 of them this month
            and they are still holding

beats waiting 2 months for parts and not riding

As long as the diaphragm is okay, you can even replace the o-ring with an off-the-shelf unit from most any automotive or industrial supply shop. That, with a generic compression spring, will often cure the problem.

I have several of the little discs, (with the holes in them), in my parts supply.
If you determine exactly why your petcocks are leaking, you might be able to just get the part that you need, as stated above.
Let me know if the discs will help.

Thanks to all. Got the ebay one. I will attack that tank sometime this week.
Hey, I got principles! I objected to paying that extra price. Parts n More wants $20, everyone else is twice that or nearly twice that. That bay feller had the next best price so I bought his.

Thanks again. I'll probably be looking for another for the other side, but that one is not leaking at the moment.

Marty there is a brand new, in the package, one in the parts I sold you. For a standard. Honest.
