    Morgan Carbtune

    showed up from across the pond today. I'll soon be doing an accurracy comparison with my mercury manometer after I pull the carb bank for one more final tear-down, cleaning and inspection for whatever may have been missed on the continued Venturer diliema thread I had started awhile back.

    I can sure see how handy this would be to pack along in one of the trunks traveling as it has its own heavy nylon zippered carrying case.

    Carbtune

    I have used both the Motion Pro unit and the Carbtune. I prefer the Carbtune over the other. Easy to use. Syncs the carbs quicker.

      Brant, please let us know if the Morgan is sensitive enough to set idle mixture with.

        I used it to set mine. The changes are very subtle. It's easy enough once you know that.

          Ahh, the one thing I never could do. However, I plan-on doing a coil swap over the Winter, so we'll see if I can get a better spark.

            It is strange that Morgan doesn't have a distributor over here in the US, seems like each one has to be shipped from the UK.

              Actually, I seem to remember a few sites in America that offered the Carbtune. I ended-up getting it from the Morgan site, as I ordered the colourtune with three different spark plug sizes to go with it. An expensive buy, but I love it!

                My wife bought me mine as a gift. She got it from a BMW dealer as I recall.

                  Mine was just a couple bucks cheaper, but that included storage bag and shipping.

                        For years I used a simple Mity-Vac with the PVC plenum and a single tube I swapped from carb to carb. It did a decent job of synching, and it was efficient enough for me.

                        When I started rehabbing these bikes for resale, I decided to invest in the Morgan Carbtune. I can tell you that it speed things up considerably for me. I can also tell you that I think I did not do as good as I thought with my mity-vac system. I did well enough it ran decent and was smooth enough among my peers. But I notice the improvement when I synch with the Morgan.

                        And, as stated, it is handy for traveling with its own bag and all. Overall, money well spent.

                          Was my thoughts also DG. Several yrs. back I managed to spill some of the mercury out of the MoPro manometer. At that time was able to order another vile of mercury from MotionPro. Now considered non shipable has-mat product, I would be SOL if I had another dumb-ass attack, short of breaking thermometers for the mercury.

                          Mercury manometer IS still the standard by which to check accuracy of any other style of manomater used.

                            Even thermometers now days don't use mercury. They all have a alcohol substance in it now.
