I've got plenty of cold weather gear and have done some riding in it. It's too bulky to be fun though. I feel like the little kid in "A Christmas Story" when he couldn't put his arms down when I'm all bound up in it.
Just stopping for gas is a PITA.Greg

Yes, they do! The first thing down in a turn like that is the side of my shoe. If I compress the suspension, it's the centerstand on the left and the header/centerstand on the right. I guess it depends upon the dynamic of the turn. I have never touched down on the highway peg.

I've dragged a boot a few times with my feet on the highway pegs. You have to get over pretty far. Lifted the rear wheel with the center stand lever a couple of times at XS Southeast this year. Always on left handers. I don't recall ever dragging on right handers though.
After running some good twisties my highway pegs always seem to be folded up.Greg

Yup....BTDT and got foot jerked off road peg catching heel, apparently from a rough spot in oil. That was riding several horseshoe uphill curves in a row on Red Mountain Pass south of here. Talk about throwin' everything out of kilter along with raisin' the pucker factor.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

Yes, my boot heels drag with feet on the highway pegs. My centerstand is ground on both sides. For sure, the left side is worse where it grinds the arm. I've only folded the highway peg when the whole bike was lying on its side.Marty (in Mississippi)

My highway pegs are the first thing to hit when they're down. I hear them go ting ting ting. LOLGreg

I've only done it a couple times, but the XJ seems to lean over further for some reason vs the XS. I've had right turns where my peg was folded up and smashing my boot against the motor and I scraped the heat shield bolt here.
Pisses you off when you spend the money on the stainless bolts. lol. After the second time, the bolt was about gone and was a pain to remove/replace. On the left side, the center stand scrapes before it'll get that low. I used to ride with my boots out a couple inches outside the pegs, and used that as a guide in turns to know I was about to start scraping, but I was going through a couple sets of riding boots a year doing that. Pegs are cheaper.
About highway pegs... The XJ seat is bad about putting pressure on my tailbone, and legs forward on some highway pegs only makes it worse. Thus, I don't have them. I do a lot of miles with my feet on the back pegs, or if going more than 70-75, I lean forward and just let my legs hang. Wind keeps my feet off the asphalt. It gives my tailbone a break but it's rough on some sensitive parts if you hit a big bump. lol.Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.
You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!
