  • In the Blood?

My youngest son (15, 6') is starting to express a renewed strong interest in motorcycling. We got a bored out YZ 85 a while ago but it took a longer field than we have to tame the beast once it hits the powerband. So it became unmanageable and frustrating for him and me so we flipped it.
Recently he's run the gamut in his interests, from dirt and trail, to stunt riding the crotch rockets. He's a real adrenaline freak if you haven't noticed.
This, until I showed him the videos of the Isle of Man TT races.....
He was enthralled, couldn't believe it, became a convert. I think we need to start signing up sponsors for the boy... all donations accepted.

    Hi Cobia,
Not to put a damper on his ambition but those are extremely talented riders with lots of experience. It takes years of practice to reach those levels. Incidentally while there is some factory support the riders are amateurs, meaning they have day jobs.

        Hey Phil and Don,
You both couldn't be more right. The TT isn't a football combine either.
He asked all about how you get there and we had a good conversation about dedication and goals.
I also reminded him that he will not be covered under his parents health insurance after he's 21, so he might as well break all those bones early on.

You may also want to check to be certain your health insurance does not have a clause excluding "racing" activities and such. Some do exclude "high risk" activities.
