Your just breaking it in Mo! Steppenwolf is the original owner of his SG. It is well over 80k, might be in the area of 90k miles by now. IT recently got a new cam chain, but otherwise IRRC it is factory parts engine wise. Not so much as the gear repair ever needed.

We did swap out for Honda coils, and it has had the pick-up coils repaired.

I know I have read of folks hitting well over 120-140k miles with no major engine work.

So change that baby's diaper and get ready for a long relationship.

My current motor has well over 100k hard miles since rebuild, but Bob Jones had one with over 225k miles all original except the final drive that locked up on him because he didn't check the fluid. Last I knew of, someone bought that bike and is still riding it? If you look at the cover of his book, it's the Long Miles bike pictured with him on the cover.

That being said... I think it's harder on a bike to sit or get just periodically ridden vs one that gets ridden often.
Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!
