  • 1980G Seat

Looking for a 1980G seat in very good condition. Need one without any tears, burns, etc. Or I may entertain the idea of a good cover/foam replacement that looks like the original G. Have seen some advertised on Ebay by Saddlemen. Anyone tried any other sources with good results? I maybe should have posted this elsewhere - Sorry.

I believe I have the seat you are looking for.
This is just the straight up seat pan with the Saddleman seat pad on it.

I can supply pictures if you want.
By the way it came off of my 79 XS1100 Standard.
It has one small scuff but in great shape.

I may end up going with that type. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that the standard seat is just a basic flat 2-person seat? Is that right? That is what is on it now.

Mike.. Best seat covers I've seen with all stock appearance are to be had at B and H out of Texas.

          http://www.motorcycleseatcovers.com/...sp?Make=yamaha

I don't see a standard listed for the '80, but call them and talk to them. It's a small family company working out of their garage, and the covers come back better than OEM made of nice soft leather instead of vinyl. Took my XJ seat from this...

          To this...

They also sew in a small amount of padding to the underside and it makes up for what's been permanently crushed over the years.

For what it is or is not worth to you, I put a saddleman cover on an SG seat. turned out REALLY nice. Their product is top notch in my opinion.

That is a good looking seat repair/recover there. I would definitely consider having them do this one that I have. Will give them a call.

Mike, member Cobia just had a cover made for him for his 80G, it looks exactly like factory one, real nice quality. It was also a for good price. Maybe he'll chime in about it.

Was their cover an exact match to the original?
