    Seller

So you phone a guy about his bike. He says I have to tell you someone else is looking at it. Do you believe him? Do you think that is just a line he is giving you?
So you phone a guy about his bike and say you will be there in 40 minutes. He says there will be a guy here in twenty. Do you believe him.
It's a jungle out there. Sometimes as a buyer it is hard to read minds. Sometimes as a seller it is impossible to know if a guy will show.
Sometimes as a seller it is impossible to keep everyone informed and happy.

I will tell you what they told me about selling years ago. " I will be back " will not be back. You sell the item to the first guy that plunks down the money.

As for price we need to study " The formation of a contract "

Now there is never any excuse for bad manners, not being civil or gloating at the wrong time. But seriously, who believes what I just said?

Sorry you missed the CB750, they were a good bike.

      Best advice.

Exactly my thoughts before reading your thread. Seems to be the rule, not the exception in todays world. Not the way I was raised, and is very frustrating at the least. I've found Karma deals with those betterthan me opening MY mouth. What goes around comes around. He definitely did the right thing walking away!

        Buyers/sellers

Seems to me if the guy was that happy to get rid of it. He may have done you a favour by selling it before you bought an extensive project. Who knows what problems were present with it.

          Faith in Humanity restored

Well a complete turn around tonight. Just so happened, there was an ad on CL today for another CB750, this one was a 72 model (other was 81) and more of a project form the looks of it.

I texted the owner, he responded and advised someone was looking at it. I told him to let me know if it sold. Ten -fifteen minutes later he says they are still lookin', probably not buying it, I can come by if I want to. So I head over, knowing I am 20 minutes away. I get there, he comes out an apologizes that the guy did buy it. He texted me, but it had not come through.

They both agreed to let me look over the bike, we chatted for about 15-20 minutes. It was certainly a project bike. Kind of glad the other guy got it. But left feeling good about life and people again.

            They're Out There

So I drive up today to see it, and he tells me he just sold it to some one else. Now, its bad enough he could not call to tell me not to come, but I would have thought he would either tell me if he had some one else looking at it before me, or give me the chance to look before he sold to someone who called after me.

Don- What's your fascination with the CB750? Kind of a boring bike in my opinion. U had an XS750, u don't miss the Triple? How about a GS?

                Hi Ian,
the CB750 was the game changer. The first modern superbike. Before it, Japanese bikes only ruled the small bike market. With it, they ruled everything.

I just happen to have a lot of history with CB750s. The first one was a one owner garage kept bike that needed carbs cleaned for $550. Second was a 72 model, not very common theses days.
